Sarah El Hairy, High Commissioner for Children, alerted two regulatory bodies on Friday 19 June. She brought to their attention indications concerning the peer-to-peer sales website Vinted. The suspected facts would involve paedocriminal networks operating on this second-hand platform.
Information gathered by Europe 1 reveals that law enforcement has also issued alerts to the site's managers. Investigators fear that coded language may be used by malicious individuals to coordinate activities related to the exploitation of minors.
This revelation emerges in a climate of contestation over institutional failures. The Lyhanna case, in which a schoolgirl was found dead, has exposed structural shortcomings within services responsible for child protection. The preliminary conclusions of the medical examination of the young girl, released on 18 June, indicate sexual assault. Jérôme Barella, the principal suspect, is in custody pending trial and could face aggravated charges.
