The municipality of Morne-Vert was the scene of an armed homicide on the evening of Thursday 20 November. A 33-year-old man, living in the Montjoly neighbourhood, died after receiving multiple gunshots during a brawl involving two other people.
According to information gathered, the victim allegedly attempted to defuse the situation by stepping between the two combatants. It was then that one of them allegedly drew a weapon and opened fire. Hit in the chest region, the man in his thirties was evacuated by firefighters and the emergency medical aid service. Resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful in saving him; he was already in cardiac arrest.
On Friday 21 November, the person suspected of firing the shots voluntarily presented himself to the gendarmes. This arrest was confirmed by the public prosecutor's magistrate, Yann Le Bris. Since Saturday 22 November, the individual has been in police custody and has been undergoing interrogation. He remains presumed innocent pending the continuation of proceedings.
