Man in his thirties from Gosier tried for possession of child sexual abuse material
Investigators from the local cyber-crime unit conducted an operation that resulted in the arrest of a man in his forties residing in Gosier. Aged 39, he was brought before the criminal court to face charges relating to the retention of child sexual abuse material.
During the search carried out at his home, law enforcement found several hundred shocking images. The files discovered on his computer and other devices depicted minors of all ages, including infants around three years old. These images, apparently downloaded from the internet, are believed to have been accumulated between 2020 and recent months. All the suspect's digital equipment was confiscated for the purposes of the investigation.
The prosecution stressed that the accused did not limit himself to sporadic viewing: he systematically archived these illegal documents. On that basis, the magistrates requested his provisional detention.
The profile drawn up by the specialist is that of an introverted personality, addicted to screens and electronic games. This image contrasts with his stable professional situation, as he is employed by a property management company in Jarry. His family, present in the courtroom, discovered in astonishment the conduct of their relative.
The accused's lawyer pleaded the absence of physical contact, arguing that his client posed no threat and deserved to avoid prison.
The judges adjourned examination of the case to 16 July 2026. In the meantime, the suspect has regained his freedom, but must comply with stringent obligations: he is forbidden from approaching children and from accessing the Internet by any means whatsoever.
