The Guadeloupe gendarmerie conducted a targeted operation against drug trafficking on Monday 16 March 2026 in the Desmarais neighbourhood in Bouillante, according to la1ere.franceinfo.fr. Officers uncovered several particularly sophisticated narcotic caches, some of which had been excavated directly into the foundations of a building.
This operation followed a previous action during which several hundred grammes of drugs had already been discovered in the common areas of the same building.
During this new operation, gendarmes seized several items characteristic of a resale operation: pre-packaged sachets, a precision scale and equipment dedicated to trafficking.
According to the authorities, the operation was well received by residents of the neighbourhood, who wish to regain a safer living environment. The Guadeloupe gendarmerie states that it remains fully mobilised against trafficking and for the maintenance of public order.
