Louis Mussington summoned in October for favouritism and unlawful conflict of interest in Saint-Martin
The president of the Saint-Martin collectivity will appear before the tribunal in Marigot in October in two separate cases. Four vice-presidents are also under investigation.
Two legal cases for the president of the Saint-Martin collectivity
According to la1ere.franceinfo.fr, Louis Mussington, president of the territorial collectivity of Saint-Martin, signed his two summonses through judicial police officer (COPJ) at the Saint-Martin gendarmerie on Wednesday 3 June. He will have to answer for two separate matters before the proximity tribunal of Marigot in October next, that is within four months, according to concordant sources.
First case: unlawful conflict of interest
Between 2022 and 2024, Louis Mussington allegedly had five members of his close entourage recruited within the collectivity's workforce. The hearing concerning him is scheduled for 5 and 6 October next.
Second case: favouritism and misappropriation of public property
Louis Mussington is also being prosecuted alongside four of his vice-presidents — Alain Richardson, Bernadette Davis, Michel Petit and Dominique Louisy — for favouritism and misappropriation of public property. The five elected officials will have to explain the circumstances under which they benefited personally from vehicles financed by the collectivity, without call for tenders or public procurement procedures. They are summoned from 7 to 9 October next.
This double summons comes after two periods of custody suffered by Mussington at the gendarmerie premises. The use of COPJs makes it possible to accelerate the procedure by reducing the time between the alleged offence and the hearing.
Contacted by the correspondent of la1ere.franceinfo.fr in Saint-Martin, Louis Mussington has not responded so far.
