Five people have been examined in connection with the killing of a 33-year-old man, found dead from gunshot wounds in Saint-François in July 2025, reports rci.fm. The judicial investigation is continuing in order to determine the exact motives of those implicated.
The victim, a young man in his thirties living in mainland France, was staying in Guadeloupe for a week's holiday on the occasion of the "All Day In" festival, in Moule. On the night of 21 July 2025, around 2 a.m., he had left the tourist villa where he was staying with friends, on the hotel road, at Manganao. His relatives, alerted by the sound of gunfire, discovered him mortally wounded. Despite the swift intervention of firefighters and the emergency medical service, the doctor could only certify death at the scene.
Two operations in May and June 2026
Nearly a year after the events, two large-scale judicial operations made it possible to accelerate the investigation. On 18 May 2026, two suspects were arrested during an initial phase of arrests. During their custody, one of them indicated to investigators the location where the murder weapon had been concealed, allowing it to be seized. Presented before the investigating magistrate, the two men were examined: one placed in provisional detention, the other under judicial supervision.
These initial hearings made it possible to reconstruct the precise course of events and to identify three other suspected accomplices. The latter were arrested during a second operation on 22 June 2026. After 48 hours in custody, they were presented to the investigating judge and examined. One was placed in provisional detention, the other two under judicial supervision.
The circumstances and motives that led to this murder remain to be established as part of the ongoing proceedings.
