Arrest of 48-year-old in connection with murder of elderly man in Galatsi
A foreign national, aged 48, has been arrested for the strangulation of an 80-year-old man in Galatsi, a crime committed during a burglary in July 2026.

A 48-year-old foreign national was arrested on the morning of 29 October, accused of the intentional manslaughter of an 80-year-old man in Galatsi, following a police investigation that solved the case. The fact was reported by To Vima, citing the source APA-MPA.
The elderly man was found dead in the morning of 25 July 2026 inside his home. The forensic examination established that his death resulted from strangulation, whilst the crime had been committed the previous day, on 24 July.
From the police investigation it emerged that the 48-year-old broke into the residence with the intention of theft and subsequently strangled the elderly man. In the bedroom of the house, scattered objects were found, whilst a drawer from a bedside table had been removed.
The 48-year-old was arrested and taken before the competent prosecutor.
