Thessaloniki: Two arrested held six migrants captive in Dendroopotamo
A 27-year-old Pakistani and a 24-year-old Greek woman were arrested on Friday in Thessaloniki for unlawfully detaining six foreign nationals.

A 27-year-old Pakistani national and a 24-year-old Greek woman were arrested on Friday, 4 September in Thessaloniki on the charge that they were holding six Pakistanis and Afghans against their will in a house in the Dendroopotamo area. The incident is reported by Dikastiko.gr, citing information from the Hellenic Police.
According to the Hellenic Police, the two accused were unlawfully detaining the six men inside the house, beating them and threatening them. At the same time, they had confiscated their mobile phones, making any communication with relatives or authorities impossible.
The case came to light as part of an investigation into the unlawful transportation of persons who did not have the necessary documents for legal residence in Greece. Police officers from the Migration Management Department of Thessaloniki, with the assistance of the Prevention and Suppression of Crime Department, carried out an operation in the area and proceeded with the two arrests.
During the operation, the 27-year-old attempted to escape, according to thestival.gr, but was immediately immobilised by police officers. The police also established that he did not have the required documents for legal residence in the country.
During the operation, a sum of money, three mobile phones, and a wooden stick were seized.
A file has been drawn up against the two arrested individuals for abduction in joint participation, provision of accommodation in joint participation, and simple complicity in promoting unlawful migrants within the country. The accused are expected to be brought before the competent judicial authority.
