In the night of 20 to 21 June 2026, police officers in Zagreb attempted to stop a private vehicle, a BMW. The driver, a 20-year-old, ignored the light and sound signals and continued driving.

In the area of Lučko, whilst police officers pursued him with concern for the safety of others in traffic, the suspect deliberately hit an official vehicle in which two officers were present. After that, he lost control of his vehicle and ended up off the roadway.

Despite the collision, the young man exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Police officers soon caught up with him. During the procedure, the suspect kicked one officer in order to prevent further intervention.

No one sustained injuries in this incident. In addition to a report for the criminal offence of coercion of an official person, the young man was reported for multiple traffic offences. The court in Velika Gorica issued a final ruling finding him guilty and imposed a fine of 5,630 euros.

After the criminal investigation was completed, the suspect was handed over to a detention supervisor, and the report was sent to the competent state prosecutor's office.
