Family dispute in Zagreb escalates: Both arrested after violent confrontation
Yesterday at around 15:00 on the Zagreb neighbourhood of Pešćenica, a violent incident erupted between two members of the same family. The dispute started with a verbal argument and ended in a physical confrontation and a damaged car, according to Zagreb police.
A 29-year-old, after making threats to a 61-year-old, quickly fled in his personal car. The older man then got into his own vehicle and drove after him. He soon caught up with his younger relative and deliberately hit him with his car.
After the young man stopped, the 61-year-old got out of his car. In his hand he had a blunt object which he used to smash the front and rear windows of the 29-year-old's vehicle. He then approached the driver's door and attempted to hit and injure him.
Due to the broken glass, the 29-year-old sustained minor injuries. Medical assistance was provided to him at the scene. Police officers arrested both parties and took them for criminal investigation.
The younger man was arrested on suspicion of committing the crime of threatening, whilst the older man was brought in for violent behaviour and damage to another's property. The investigation is still ongoing.
