On Monday afternoon on D429 near Jezerce, a sixty-six-year-old man drove his car into the opposite direction and collided head-on with a motorcycle. The two-wheeler rider died immediately, while a young woman with him ended up in Rijeka hospital with serious injuries.

On Monday afternoon on road D429 in the vicinity of Jezerce, a serious traffic accident occurred with a tragic outcome. In the collision, a motorcyclist was killed, while his passenger sustained serious injuries and was urgently transported for treatment in Rijeka.

According to an official statement from the Lika-Senj police, the collision occurred on 2 June shortly after 4 p.m. A sixty-six-year-old driver of a privately owned car with Krapina registration plates was travelling from Mukinje towards Prijeboj. In a bend, he lost control of the vehicle and swerved into the opposite lane.

At that moment, he collided with a motorcycle with the same registration region, driven by a thirty-six-year-old citizen of the Republic of Croatia. The impact was so severe that the motorcyclist died at the scene. His twenty-five-year-old passenger sustained serious bodily injuries and, after receiving emergency assistance, was transported to KBC Rijeka.

Police launched a criminal investigation against the older car driver on suspicion that he had committed the criminal offence of causing a traffic accident. The details of the tragedy will be established in further proceedings.
