In an Italian prison, a singular smuggling system has been exposed. A single kiss during a visit from his girlfriend was enough for an inmate to receive three SIM cards, carefully wrapped in film. The transfer took place in a matter of seconds: from the woman's mouth to the man's hand, which he then hid in his pocket.
The incident came to light in Bari, where interceptions and recordings from security cameras led to the identification of Donato Antonio Alfaro, nicknamed "Cipster", a 32-year-old man from Pala del Colle. A custody order had been issued against him for attempted murder and extortion.
Overall, as part of the investigation designated "Re Nero", four people have been arrested. Three have been taken into custody, and one has been placed under house arrest. The enquiry began following an assault that took place on 16 November 2023 in Pala del Colle against a local businessman. The latter is said to have been a victim of recurring extortion: Alfaro, a man with previous convictions and linked to the Strisciuglio clan, is alleged to have forced him to hand over rental vehicles without receiving any payment.
Alfaro's girlfriend, Oriana Leone, who passed the SIM cards to him with a kiss, is already under investigation but remains at liberty. In addition to having delivered the cards to her partner, she is also involved in the enquiry because she failed to report her boyfriend when he, driven by jealousy, allegedly ordered accomplices from prison to set fire to her car. Despite being aware of her partner's actions, she filed a report against unknown persons.
Leone is said to have delivered the three telephone cards to her boyfriend with the help of two other suspects, after receiving appropriate instructions. The cards were then allegedly inserted into mobile phones illegally kept in prison cells, allowing the inmates uninterrupted communication with the outside world.
