Arrested in Rome with three kilograms of drugs hidden in car
According to questure.poliziadistato.it, officers from Romanina Police Station arrested a 26-year-old man originally from the Castelli Romani area during an anti-drug operation on the streets of Morena. Investigators noticed the man exchanging words with a passerby through the window of a rental car hired a few days earlier.
A search of the vehicle revealed 3,250 grammes of marijuana in the boot, already divided into doses ready for retail sale. Every package was completely coated with menthol, an attempt to mask its pungent odour to evade checks by police dogs.
In the boot compartment, officers also found 620 euros in cash and numerous black bags intended for packaging the merchandise. The investigation established that the young man was operating a sales system through an instant-messaging application to coordinate buyers and transactions.
The Judicial Authority validated the arrest and ordered home detention aggravated by the use of an electronic bracelet. The presumption of innocence remains in force for the suspect pending any definitive determination by an irrevocable conviction sentence.
