Arrested for murder in Lecce
According to rainews.it, carabinieri from the investigative unit arrested a 32-year-old from Surbo on suspicion of murder, concealment of a corpse and carrying an illegal weapon. The victim is Antimo Mazzotta, a 78-year-old pensioner found dead in the artesian well at his home in Torre Rinalda.
The arrest was ordered by prosecutor Luigi Mastrognani. The man confessed to killing the pensioner during a clarificatory meeting, carrying a 7.65-calibre pistol with him. The motive dates back to a dispute linked to renovation work: the suspect had carried out work at the 78-year-old's home for approximately 300 euros, but according to Mazzotta the work had not been completed according to regulations.
Carabinieri recovered the weapon in a derelict building in Surbo, thanks to information provided by the arrested man during questioning.
