Officers from the counter-terrorism section of the Milan Digos have arrested a twenty-year-old boy, an Italian national of Moroccan origin. He is accused of participation in a group with terrorist aims.
The investigation was launched following an alert issued by Aisi, the Internal Intelligence and Security Agency, which had identified an online profile linked to Islamic State propaganda. Investigators traced the young man, who had previously been flagged for links with a supremacist association.
The boy was particularly active on two digital platforms, where he shared content in support of the Islamic State and explicit calls for death for the cause. In the days preceding his arrest, the level of radicalisation had risen alarmingly, with communications suggesting a possible transition to action.
During the search, officers found propaganda material and videos explaining how to make homemade explosives, received through private messages. It was also discovered that the arrested individual had booked a flight to leave the country.
For this reason, and considering the risk that he might flee, the magistrate issued a custodial order, which was subsequently validated. The investigation was conducted together with the Central Directorate for Crime Prevention of the Police.
