A 39-year-old man, an Albanian citizen and long-time resident of Olbia, has decided to surrender voluntarily to the local police headquarters office. The subject had been wanted for nearly a decade after disappearing before the verdict in a drugs trafficking case.
The facts date back to the end of 2015, when the 39-year-old was caught in the company of a fellow countryman with approximately one kilogramme of cocaine in his possession. The trial concluded in 2019 before the Tempio Pausania Court with a sentence of three years and six months' imprisonment, but the defendant had already disappeared long before.
In recent days, at the conclusion of investigations conducted by the Anti-Crime Squad of Olbia police headquarters to locate him, the fugitive had a change of heart and presented himself voluntarily to officers. Following completion of administrative procedures, he was taken to Sassari prison, in accordance with a decision by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Tempio Pausania.
