According to torino.corriere.it, State police executed six precautionary measures as part of the anti-drug operation "Driver", coordinated by the Turin Public Prosecutor's Office directed by Giovanni Bombardieri. The orders concern six people suspected of drug trafficking: three Moroccan citizens, one Albanian and two Italians, of whom three were already arrested in flagrante delicto during previous investigations.
The mobile squad investigation, launched in 2024, has resulted in a total of 21 arrests, the seizure of over 780 kilograms of drugs and the recovery of four stolen pistols. The measures ordered by the judge for preliminary investigations of the Turin Court include pre-trial detention, house arrest and obligations to report daily to the judicial police.
Investigators identified the group as operating from the Turin area with a distribution network extending to Liguria, Lombardy, Veneto and Lazio. Between 2024 and 2025, 20 people had been arrested and approximately 700 kilograms of hashish, 70 of marijuana, 14 of cocaine and 500 ecstasy tablets were seized, along with four pistols with ammunition.
During searches carried out whilst executing the six precautionary measures, a further Italian was arrested in flagrante delicto found in possession of approximately 500 grammes of hashish, 250 of marijuana and seven grammes of cocaine.
