Suzzara, daughter confesses to father's murder: Rosa Capuano sentenced to 25 years
Rosa Capuano, 47, confessed before the Court of Assizes in Mantua to killing her father Francesco with a firearm. She was sentenced to 25 years in prison for the murder committed in December 2023.

Confession in court after two years of denials
According to ilgiorno.it, Rosa Capuano dramatically confessed before the judges of the Court of Assizes in Mantua on 5 November 2026: "Yes, it was me. I couldn't take it anymore. I took the pistol and killed him." The 47-year-old, unemployed and from Suzzara, admitted to taking the life of her father Francesco, 79, found dead on 23 December 2023 inside his car parked in the garage on via Biolcheri.
The confession came after two years during which Capuano had consistently declared her innocence. From the outset of the investigation, however, carabinieri from the RIS had identified contradictions between the woman's statements — who claimed she had remained at home at the time of the crime — and the traces found in the garage.
The sentence and the motives for the crime
In the afternoon of the same 5 November, the tribunal sentenced Rosa Capuano to 25 years in prison. The court ruled out the aggravating factor of abject and frivolous motives, while recognising the same generic mitigating circumstances as other aggravating factors: premeditation and the crime committed against an ascendant.
Rosa had looked after her father following the death of her mother, a responsibility that weighed increasingly on her due to Francesco's possessive character and his mobility problems. According to the investigation, she was driven by the desire to become the sole heir, despite the presence of two other brothers and a sister.
Compensation to family members
The tribunal ordered the payment of a total provisional sum of 150,000 euros to the three siblings of the defendant: two men and a woman, one of whom is resident in Suzzara and the other two in Campania. Each received a sum of 50,000 euros. Francesco Capuano, a retired janitor originally from Scampia (Naples), had moved with the family to Mantua about ten years before the murder, with no criminal record.
