Drug arrest in Monfalcone

According to triesteprima.it, officers from Monfalcone police station stopped a twenty-year-old of Albanian nationality at the Lisert barrier during a road check. The man voluntarily handed over a package containing approximately two grammes of opium; a subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a further four packages of the same substance concealed inside a car door handle.

During the validation hearing, the suspect claimed to have purchased the narcotic for personal consumption and stated he had never dealt drugs. The Court of Gorizia, through judge Flavia Mangiante, deemed this account "not credible" as investigation files showed that in the preceding weeks the man had been observed by law enforcement handing over cocaine to at least two people, subsequently identified.

Judge Mangiante validated the arrest and imposed a house arrest order in light of the risk of reoffending. The investigation continues against the twenty-year-old, coordinated by the Prosecutor's Office.
