Prosecutor seeks life sentence for Viareggio businesswoman who killed thief by running him over
The Lucca magistracy has filed a request for a life sentence against a 65-year-old woman, owner of beach facilities, accused of murdering a 52-year-old Moroccan citizen. The incident dates to September 2024, when the defendant allegedly ran over the victim repeatedly with her own vehicle, an SUV, after he had stolen her bag.
During today's hearing, psychiatric consultants ruled out the presence of mental disorders in the woman. The report, drawn up by a specialist from Rome and a psychiatrist from Bologna, was filed with the court at the end of April. Both experts were heard in court on Thursday.
The judge declared the fact-finding phase of the trial concluded. The prosecutor, Sara Polino, listened to the defence arguments, entrusted to lawyer Enrico Marzaduri, and the representatives of the civil parties, lawyers Enrico Carboni and Gianmarco Romanini.
