An investigation into sexual assault has involved the Forza Italia parliamentarian Francesco Silvestro. Following the news, the president of the Senate Ignazio La Russa convened the quaestors of Palazzo Madama for a meeting in the afternoon.
The complaint was filed by a woman working as a sales agent in the wine sector. According to what was reported to investigators, an alleged incident occurred within the senator's office, located in the Palazzo di San Luigi de' Francesi.
When questioned about the accusations, Silvestro initially responded with a statement that generated strong controversy: "I am a good-looking man, she is ordinary". Shortly afterwards, the politician retracted the statement, apologising for the words he had spoken.
The meeting convened by La Russa took place at 3 pm to examine the matter and evaluate possible institutional consequences.
