German student attacked in Milan, Peruvian man arrested: a receipt gave him away
A 31-year-old undocumented Peruvian man was arrested for attacking a 21-year-old German Erasmus student on Via Giacosa. A receipt found in the abandoned rucksack and surveillance footage were crucial to the investigation.

Attacked after the evening out: rescued by tourists
Richard William Salvador Janampa, a 31-year-old homeless Peruvian man in an irregular immigration status, was arrested for attacking a 21-year-old German student on an Erasmus exchange on Thursday evening on Via Giacosa, in the Parco Trotter area of Milan. According to Il Fatto Quotidiano – Cronaca, the girl had been left alone after saying goodbye to her group of seven foreign companions with whom she had spent the evening, when she was attacked. Two Italian tourists who were passing by helped her.
The receipt that gave him away
The crucial element in the investigation was the discovery of a rucksack on Via Padova, near the location of the attack. Inside, the carabinieri from Porta Garibaldi found a purchase receipt. Analysis of the surveillance camera footage from the shop made it possible to identify the attacker's face from the recordings made at the time of the transaction.
From the SIM card to the phone
A mobile phone SIM card was also found in the same bag. By tracing the purchase of the SIM card, investigators traced it back to the shop where it had been sold, obtaining the telephone number associated with it and the identity of the registered holder. Surveillance footage from the surrounding areas confirmed that Janampa had followed and attacked the victim. The man was located on Via Padova and was arrested on serious grounds for suspicion and risk of flight, then taken into custody.
