Arrest in Aurora district

The State Police arrested a 34-year-old Romanian citizen in the Aurora district for evading house arrest and making false statements to a public official, according to reports from questure.poliziadistato.it.

Officers from the UPGSP rapid response units were checking people at a commercial establishment in largo Brescia, an area affected by drug trafficking activities. A man without documents drew the attention of the officers by providing details that did not match those in the police databases.

Brought to the police headquarters for further verification, the man was identified: he had provided false details, those of his brother, to evade the check. He was found to be subject to house arrest and had left his residence without authorisation.

The arrested man was placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities. The criminal proceedings are in the preliminary investigation phase; the presumption of innocence applies until final conviction.
