A dark-coloured car deliberately targeted a group of young people at the exit of the Ipanema nightclub in Taormina, in the province of Messina. The incident occurred at around 3:15 in the morning, following a quarrel.
In footage posted on social media by Mayor Cateno De Luca, the vehicle is seen driving away, reversing, and returning at full speed towards the young people. At least one person was injured in the impact.
The mayor described the episode as an "attempted murder" and sent the video to the commanding officer of the state police and that of the municipal police. He also requested the immediate identification of the driver and all those visible in the footage.
"Anyone who knows about and witnessed this attempted murder, please contact me," De Luca wrote on Facebook, appealing to anyone with information useful for the investigation.
