Arrest for forged document

According to questure.poliziadistato.it, State police arrested a 21-year-old Senegalese citizen in the Madonna di Campagna neighbourhood of Turin for possession of a forged passport. The operation was conducted by officers from the General Prevention and Public Assistance Office during a territory control service at the intersection of via Borgaro and via Verolengo.

During the vehicle inspection, the young man presented a copy of a laminated Senegalese driving licence and a passport. The latter, despite appearing to have been issued only eight days prior, showed signs of abnormal wear given its supposed date of issue. The condition of the document raised immediate suspicions about its authenticity.

The passport was subjected to technical analysis by Turin's Interregional Scientific Police Laboratory, which established alterations to the data page. The man was already subject to a requirement to report to the Judicial Police before his arrest. He has been placed at the disposal of the Judicial Authority. The proceedings are in the preliminary investigation phase; therefore the presumption of innocence remains until a final verdict.
