Hashish trafficking in Upper Vicenza: man arrested with 31 kilograms hidden in car
A man was arrested overnight on a Venetian highway with over 31 kilograms of hashish in the boot, while two other individuals were reported for weapons and explosives offences.

During the night, along the expressway crossing the Vicenza area, officers from the Polizia Stradale stopped a vehicle that was travelling at high speed. Inside the boot, 750 blocks of hashish had been concealed, totalling approximately 31.4 kilograms.
The stop was carried out in coordination with military personnel from the Guardia di Finanza of the provincial capital. The two suspicious vehicles were travelling in close convoy, behaviour that prompted officers to conduct a more thorough inspection.
The investigation allowed the circle to be widened to two other individuals. In their possession, three unmarked improvised explosive devices were found, an electrical immobilisation device, traces of marijuana inside a grass cutter, and a cannabis cigarette.
The driver of the large-capacity vehicle was taken into custody in Vicenza prison. The car was removed from circulation as it had been used for transporting the drug.
An Albanian national was reported to the judicial authority for unlawful possession of explosive material and weapons. Another person was reported to the local government office for personal drug use.
The operation falls within the enhancement of prevention and enforcement services against drug dealing along the road routes in the area.
