Confession at barracks for Longiano murder

The body of Denaldo Maxhallaku, a 31-year-old Albanian painter residing in Gatteo, was discovered yesterday morning at the bottom of a concrete drainage cavity at Felloniche in Longiano, along via Fondovalle Rubicone. According to ilrestodelcarlino.it, on the evening of 8 October the man had told his family "I'm going to the bar, see you tonight" and had not returned since.

The investigation led to the arrest of a 29-year-old man from Cesena, residing in Longiano. During questioning conducted by carabinieri from the Cesenatico Company, led by Major Massimiliano Iori, the man admitted his responsibility. Represented by lawyers Luca Arginelli and Antonio Baldacci, the young man declared: "It was me". Investigators had identified him after examining telephone records, verifying that he was the last person to have had contact with the victim.

On the evening of the disappearance, the two had met at the 29-year-old's home. According to the reconstruction, the situation degenerated into a violent altercation. The suspect, who had accumulated a drug debt, allegedly seized a weapon and fired the fatal shots. "I was afraid for myself and my family, I felt threatened," he declared during questioning. The man then concealed the body in the well and set fire to the victim's car to destroy evidence.

The 29-year-old remains held at Savignano barracks pending transfer to Forlì prison. The validation hearing for the arrest will be held in the coming hours. On Saturday, an autopsy will be commissioned. Maxhallaku's wife, assisted by lawyer Raffaele Pacifico, declared: "He was a present husband, an attentive father, he loved our one-year-old daughter, a hard worker".
