A German tourist fell into a trap during an alleged drug deal in Naples' historic centre. The man paid 40 euros for a small bag of white powder which, upon examination, proved to be common kitchen salt.

According to 20 Minuten, the incident occurred when an alleged 36-year-old drug dealer handed over the package to the tourist and collected the money. Immediately after the exchange, plainclothes officers stopped both of them and analysed the substance using a rapid test. Result: the German had only salt in his hand.

The Carabinieri therefore reported the 36-year-old. It remains unknown whether the tourist faced any legal consequences for the attempted purchase.
