On Sunday evening in Anykščiai district, in Sviesteliškis village, officers used a firearm and shot dead a man who had threatened relatives in a yard with an illegally held weapon.
The injured parties themselves called out to the scene. When police arrived, the aggressor turned the weapon towards the officers. At that point the police officers fired and shot the man dead.
Police representatives later explained that this person had previously been noted for aggressive behaviour. He had repeatedly harassed neighbours on multiple occasions, and was known to those in the area as confrontational.
