Google News LT — Crime (lt) reports that in Alytus, plainclothes Criminal Police officers detained three men on the evening of 2 September, suspected of unlawful possession of a large quantity of narcotic and psychotropic substances.

At approximately 20:00, two Alytus residents, aged 31 and 35, were stopped in a car park on Jazminy Street. The first had previous convictions for robbery; the second was previously unknown to law enforcement. On the same day, on Naujoji Street near Alytus Sports and Recreation Centre, a third man aged 35 was detained, who had a prior conviction for drug possession.

Following searches of vehicles, residential premises, and a farmstead, approximately 2 kg of crystalline substance containing a suspected psychotropic substance 3-CMC was found, along with approximately 2 kg of cannabis (marijuana) and approximately 60 grammes of suspected cocaine. A total of approximately 4 kg of narcotic and psychotropic substances was seized.

In addition to the substances, more than 6,000 euros in cash was confiscated, as well as weighing and packaging equipment. The total street value of the seized materials could exceed 80,000 euros on the black market.

Two individuals were charged under Article 260, Part 3 of the Criminal Code — unlawful possession of a very large quantity of narcotic or psychotropic substances with intent to distribute them. The prosecutor supervising the investigation requested that Alytus District Court issue arrest warrants for these two suspects.

The third suspect was charged with drug possession without intent to distribute under Article 259, Part 1 of the Criminal Code. Milder preventative measures were imposed on him: a written undertaking not to leave and confiscation of documents.

The preliminary investigation is being supervised by a prosecutor from the Organised Crime and Corruption Investigation Department of Kaunas Regional Prosecution Office.
