The appellate court upheld the custodial sentence against Antanas Kandrotas, known by the nickname Cellofan. As a result, police are considering the possibility of issuing an international search, but beforehand must gather evidence that the convicted man is not hidden within our territory.

A national search is currently underway. Officers are collecting objective data about Kandrotas's whereabouts. Only once they have confirmed that he is not in the country will they be able to apply for an international search to be issued.

Kandrotas himself claims he is hiding in a neighbouring state. Law enforcement is verifying and evaluating this information. Further action will depend on where the convicted man actually is.
