Šiauliai District Court has sentenced a man to ten years' deprivation of liberty for possession of narcotics. Nearly 15,000 euros and a motor vehicle were confiscated from him.
Šiauliai Court Sentences Man to 10 Years' Imprisonment for Over One Kilogramme of Cocaine
Šiauliai District Court has imposed a sentence of ten years' deprivation of liberty on a man who unlawfully possessed a large quantity of narcotics. In addition to the deprivation of liberty, nearly 15,000 euros and a motor vehicle were confiscated from the convicted man.
According to the case material, in December 2024 a Šiauliai resident unlawfully acquired more than 1.2 kilogrammes of cocaine. He concealed part of this substance in a rented apartment and the remainder in work premises. During the trial, the accused explained that the drugs had been brought in from abroad with the intention of selling them.
During the same period, the man, having made contact via social networks, also acquired a small quantity of cannabis. In this case, he intended to use it himself rather than distribute it to others. During a search, these drugs were found both in the convicted man's apartment and in his vehicle.
According to the prosecution, intensive supervision remains in force for the man until the court ruling comes into effect. The sentence may be appealed to the Lithuanian Court of Appeal within twenty days.
