A court has decided not to remand a 42-year-old man suspected of the killing of 35-year-old Vadims in Balozi. The suspect has been banned from leaving the country and placed under police supervision, according to the TV3 programme "Degpunkts".
In February last year, the body of a young man was found at a private residence with multiple stab wounds and signs of beating. Police detained the homeowner Dmitry as a possible suspect and asked the court to keep him in custody. The court rejected this request.
The killed man's father does not understand the court's decision. "How could they release him?" he asks. "My son received two stab wounds to the abdomen and one to the chest. How can we talk about self-defence here?"
The court does not provide detailed arguments, citing information of limited accessibility. Police confirm that the investigation is still ongoing.
Local residents reveal that various groups frequently gathered at the premises in question. Versions circulate about possible illegal drug dealing at the location. The victim's acquaintances suggest that the dispute between the two men could have been related to drugs.
