The State Border Guard detained two people wanted by police at Riga airport's border control point on Wednesday, reports TVNET. One is a Latvian citizen who attempted to travel to the United Kingdom; the other is a non-citizen of Latvia who entered from Germany. Both persons have been handed over to the State Police.
During passenger profiling, border guards at the airport identified four foreign nationals with forged documents. A Somali citizen presented a forged Dutch identity card. Another Somali citizen and one Ethiopian citizen presented forged French residence permits. A Bangladeshi citizen used a forged Pakistani passport. Criminal proceedings have been initiated for the use of forged documents and identity concealment.
A Kyrgyz citizen was held administratively liable for violation of residence conditions — he did not have a valid visa or residence permit for Schengen zone countries.
An Azerbaijani citizen was denied entry to Latvia as he was unable to substantiate the purpose of his entry and stay. At Terehova border control point, nine people were denied entry due to security circumstances — two German citizens and one each from Italy, Moldova, Israel, Russia, Lithuania and Belarus. All persons were returned to their countries of departure.
During immigration control measures, entry or residence regulation violations were identified for two Russian citizens and one Pakistani citizen.
For violations in the field of vehicle and vessel operation, border guards held 17 people administratively liable or denied them border crossing — seven Belarusian citizens, three Moldovan citizens, two Latvian citizens, and one each from Estonia, Romania, Serbia, Hungary and China.
