A 16-year-old boy in Norway is charged with planning a terrorist attack against a kindergarten. He has been remanded in custody since the beginning of June.

A 16-year-old boy in Norway is charged with terror planning directed at a kindergarten, according to the court in Vestfold, as reported by Ekstra Bladet, citing NRK and the Norwegian news agency NTB.
The boy has been remanded in custody since the beginning of June. Media outlets have been prohibited from reporting on the case until Wednesday.
According to police, the 16-year-old had planned to attack random persons in and around the kindergarten. He is said to have specifically acquired a knife and several axes and written a manifesto. In statements to police, he also indicated that he planned to kill both himself and others.
He is charged with planning "to commit an act that can cause serious fear among the population".
According to the court order, the boy was active in far-right extremist environments online. He came to the attention of police after he made online threats of stabbing attacks against girls and women.
Police assess that there is a genuine danger that he will kill or seriously injure someone, and he therefore remains remanded in custody. The police security service has been informed of the case.
