A 16-year-old boy in Norway is charged with planning an attack on a kindergarten, according to Politiken citing NRK and the Norwegian news agency NTB.
The court in Vestfold handled the case, but the media were subject to a ban on reporting on it until Wednesday. The boy has been remanded in custody since early June.
According to police, the 16-year-old had planned to attack random people inside and near the kindergarten. He is said to have specifically obtained a knife and several axes and to have written a manifest. The boy also told police himself that he planned to take his own life and the lives of others.
He is charged with planning "to commit an act that can create serious fear in the population", writes NTB.
Police assess that there is a real danger that the boy will kill or seriously injure someone, and he therefore remains remanded in custody.
The boy came to police attention after he had threatened online with knife stabbings against girls and women. According to the court order, he was active in far-right extremist environments on the internet.
Police's security service has been informed of the case.
