A 34-year-old man from Vest-Karmøy is being held in custody through the summer months. The court chose not to grant his wish to stay at Skeisvang Guesthouse and work at a Burger King restaurant.
The man is under investigation for several serious charges, including extensive arson, possession of illegal drugs and threats directed at prison service employees. The defence argued that regular work and a stable residence could help the 34-year-old stay away from further crime, but the judge was not convinced.
The custodial detention means that the man must remain isolated behind bars for the time being, rather than waiting for the case in freedom with restrictions.
