Restless Halloween night in Innlandet: glass violence and school-leavers stop

The night of 1 November was particularly busy for Innlandet police district, according to NRK Norge. Operations leader Frode Øvreås describes the evening and night as "very active", characterised by both Halloween celebrations and school-leavers' activities in addition to ordinary nightlife.

The most serious incident occurred at a venue in Hamar, where one person was struck in the face with a glass. The victim sustained facial injuries. Two persons have been arrested and charged with assault, and are to be questioned on Sunday morning.

– There is considerable potential for very serious injury. It appears to have gone quite well, says Øvreås.

In total, five persons were brought into custody at Hamar during the night.

Police also stopped a school-leavers' event at Tingnes in Ringsaker. The event had not been reported to police in advance and lacked sufficient security personnel.

– And it was inadequate in terms of security personnel and that sort of thing. So then it becomes by definition an event that does not meet the requirements and is shut down, says the operations leader.

In Lillehammer, a person used abusive language towards police and was ordered to leave the area. When the person did not comply with the order, they were brought in and reported.

During the night, police also dealt with several persons who were too intoxicated to look after themselves.

Øvreås emphasises that the incidents were not among the most serious that police handle, but that the number of operations was high. He states that Innlandet police district had good staffing during the night.
