Only one complainant attended when Høiby received his sentence
On Monday morning, the verdict against Marius Borg Høiby was delivered in Oslo District Court. Of six female complainants, only one chose to be present at the delivery of the verdict, reports Aftenposten.
Høiby followed the court hearing via videolink from Ila prison, where he was transferred from Oslo prison on Friday. The transfer was due to Oslo prison being emptied of inmates because of renovation.
The five other complainants stayed away, according to their legal representatives. Several of them did not wish to attend because of the expected media attention.
Høiby has been in custody since 2 February, the day before the trial started. He was found guilty of rape, harassment and breach of a contact ban.
The compensation claims in the case amount to nearly two million Norwegian krone. The trial lasted seven weeks, and 70 witnesses gave testimony.
