Armed police deployed to Kampen – one arrested

A man in his forties was arrested on Tuesday morning at Brinken on Kampen in Oslo, suspected of assault. This was reported by Google News NO — Oslo.

Police arrived at the scene with seven vehicles, and officers were armed. A neighbour who spoke to Avisa Oslo described the sight as unusual.

"They are here with seven cars and they are armed," the neighbour said.

Around 10 o'clock, police drove away with the arrested man. Operations leader Eirik Sannes confirmed the arrest to Avisa Oslo.

"We have arrested a man in his forties for assault. The incident occurred yesterday, and we were made aware of the matter around nine o'clock today," said Sannes.

The complainant, a 19-year-old man, is not seriously injured. Sannes declined to comment on the relationship between the two parties involved.

When Avisa Oslo initially contacted the police operations leader, he was unwilling to disclose what police were doing in the area.

"I can confirm that police are at Brinken and conducting investigations in a matter. There is nothing that poses a danger or inconvenience to the public," the operations leader said at the time.

The neighbour said he found the large police presence frightening, and added that officers put on helmets and equipment on the street when he came home.
