The son of Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit has been sentenced to four years in prison after being charged with 40 offences, including rape and domestic violence.

The son of Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit has been sentenced to four years in prison. The verdict came after the 28-year-old was charged with 40 offences, including multiple counts of rape under Norwegian law, multiple cases of domestic violence, breach of a restraining order, drug and traffic offences.
The prosecution believed Høiby was guilty of 39 of the 40 counts and demanded that he be sentenced to seven years and seven months in prison. His defence counsel, however, called for acquittal on the rape charges and a sentence of one and a half years in prison.
The court also ordered him to pay compensation to four women, including two former girlfriends. According to SRF, Høiby did not attend the verdict in person in the courtroom for health reasons, but followed proceedings via video link from prison.
