Oslo District Court has sentenced Marius Borg Høiby, the Crown Prince's stepson, to four years' imprisonment. He was found guilty on 34 of 40 charges, including rape and assault.

Oslo District Court has delivered a verdict against Marius Borg Høiby, Crown Prince Haakon's stepson. The man was sentenced to four years' imprisonment following a trial that lasted seven weeks.
The judges found Høiby guilty on 34 of 40 counts. He was convicted of two cases of rape without intercourse, assault against ex-girlfriend Nora Haukland, reckless behaviour and violence against another former partner, threats, vandalism and several traffic offences.
The court also ordered him to pay 640,000 kroner in compensation to the victims. In addition, a two-year contact ban was imposed against one of the women.
Høiby denied criminal responsibility for all four rape charges, but admitted partial guilt on several other counts. The prosecution had demanded seven years and seven months' imprisonment, whilst his defence counsel argued that one and a half years was sufficient.
The case has attracted significant attention in Norway and internationally. The court took 88 days to reach a decision. Two of the rape charges resulted in acquittal.
