Oslo District Court decided on Monday that the remand custody of Marius Borg Høiby (29) would be extended for a further four weeks. At the same time, he was granted permission to remain outside prison with electronic monitoring.
The 29-year-old stepson of Crown Prince Haakon must remain within the grounds of Skaugum in the coming weeks, the property where the Crown Prince couple resides. He is not permitted to leave the location.
The prosecution has until Tuesday at 12 o'clock to appeal the decision. According to the news agency NTB, they plan to do so. In recent weeks, Høiby has repeatedly sought release and permission to use an electronic tag, citing his mother's deteriorating health. Crown Princess Mette-Marit underwent a lung transplant in mid-June. The court had previously rejected such applications on the grounds that the risk of him absconding was too great.
Høiby is the eldest son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit from a previous relationship. The 29-year-old was sentenced in early June to four years in prison for two rapes, assault, domestic violence and other offences.
