Jan Helge Furu from Farsund is appealing the Court of Appeal's ruling to the Supreme Court, according to NRK Norge.
"He is appealing the sentence imposed, the case handling, and the application of the law," says defence counsel Arnt Angell.
Furu has been convicted of receiving stolen goods and fraud involving over 14 million kroner in the so-called investment project "Million Adventure". The District Court sentenced him in 2024 to three years and ten months in prison, but the Court of Appeal increased the sentence to four years and six months.
He has also been ordered to repay 18.9 million kroner to the state, as well as 4.3 million kroner in compensation to five of the victims.
"The prosecution holds that Project Fairmont never existed as a genuine investment project, and Furu's defence counsel have not disputed this," according to the Court of Appeal ruling.
More than 20 people invested a combined total of more than 40 million kroner in the project, against promises of rapid and high returns.
