A 15-year-old from Finnmark has been arrested and charged with serious threats made over the internet. The Security Service (PST) has been notified, but the boy is not charged with terrorism.

A minor boy from Finnmark has been charged with serious threats made over the internet, according to nrk.no. The boy, who is 15 years old, has been arrested by the Police Security Service (PST) and is now being cared for by the health service.
– A minor from Finnmark is charged in the case and is being cared for by the health service. It is too early to say anything concrete about the threats and we are early in the investigation, says police inspector Karoline Gjønnes Johansen at Finnmark police district.
The case was first reported by Dagbladet, which initially reported that the boy was charged with terrorism. However, police clarify that the charge concerns serious threats – not terrorism.
Finnmark police district states that no information has emerged suggesting that the suspect attempted to carry out the threats against anyone, either in Finnmark or elsewhere.
– Police take the matter seriously and acted when we became aware of the threats, says Gjønnes Johansen.
Senior adviser Eirik Veum at PST confirms to Dagbladet that the service was routinely notified by Finnmark police district, but does not wish to comment further on the case. Dagbladet reports that the boy originally comes from a country in Eastern Europe.
In consideration of the investigation, Finnmark police district does not wish to release further information about the case at this time.
