Rogaland Sparebank in Norway has recorded a significant increase in the number of fraud cases during the summer months. According to the bank, there are 40 per cent more fraud cases in this period than in the rest of the year.
Two types of fraud appear repeatedly in the reported cases. The bank has also experienced young people being recruited via social media to participate in criminal activities. Recently, six young people were arrested for having contributed to money laundering.
According to Stavanger Aftenblad, the bank warns that fraudsters actively use social platforms to recruit young people for financial crime.
