A Norwegian court has found Marius Borg Høiby guilty of rape and sentenced him to four years in prison. At the same time, he must pay compensation to the injured parties, and he has been given a two-year ban on approaching one of the victims.
In the court's ruling, the judge had to explain in detail why the defendant was found guilty or not guilty on the individual charges in the indictment. The entire trial was prolonged due to the extensive list of allegations, writes the newspaper Bild.
The case began in 2024, when police identified Høiby as a suspect for physically assaulting a woman he was in a relationship with. In a statement to the press, the young man admitted that he had injured the woman while under the influence of cocaine and alcohol, and that he had damaged her flat. He expressed remorse for his actions.
Høiby has no official role in the Norwegian royal house. He was born from a previous relationship with Mette-Marit before her marriage to Crown Prince Haakon. He is the eldest of her three children. With the crown prince, the princess also has the 22-year-old Princess Ingrid Alexandra and the 20-year-old Prince Sverre Magnus.
