On Wednesday afternoon and evening, police responded to several reports of robbery in central Kristiansand. By around 21:00, five young men had been brought in, and four of them were arrested.
"Five persons are victims in the cases, which are being investigated as four separate robberies," operations manager Linn Andresen told the newspaper.
The evening before, police responded to reports of a fight at Torvet. One person was allegedly subjected to violence and robbed of belongings. In total, seven to eight people in their late teens and early twenties were involved.
During the night leading into Thursday of the previous week, four people were arrested following an attempted robbery in the city centre – all four were armed with knives. The same afternoon, a man in his twenties was beaten and robbed of belongings on a footpath under Oddernesbrua.
On Saturday morning in Tollbodgata, a person was robbed of a sum of money following a fight.
According to police station chief Anders Hareide Holt, five of the cases are under active investigation, while one has been closed. In three cases, the perpetrators remain unknown.
"There was an increase in robberies last week. The police are actively working to prevent further incidents and to solve the cases," said Holt.
