Two people found dead with gunshot wounds in Kristiansund – police investigating
A woman and a man in their 70s have been found dead with gunshot wounds at a private address near Kristiansund town centre. Police are not searching for an unknown perpetrator.

According to nrk.no, large police forces mobilised on Friday afternoon to a private address on the outskirts of Kristiansund town centre after the first report came in shortly after 3.30pm.
A passer-by had discovered a woman lying outside a single-family house and alerted police. When officers arrived, they found the woman – in her 70s – with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. She was transported by ambulance to Kristiansund Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
"We found a woman in her 70s outside the house. The woman was seriously injured, and the injuries were consistent with gunshot wounds," said Ove Brudevoll, police inspector at Møre and Romsdal police district, at a press conference on Friday evening.
Upon searching the property, police found another deceased person – a man also in his 70s, with injuries also described as consistent with gunshot wounds. According to police, the two were married and lived together. Police had not been called to the address previously.
Firearm found in the home
Police also found a firearm inside the house. Brudevoll stated that it is not yet possible to comment on who used the weapon.
"We are keeping several hypotheses open, but so far there is nothing to suggest that other persons were involved. At present, we are not searching for an unknown perpetrator," Brudevoll added.
Operations leader Roar Fylling confirmed to NRK around 6pm on Friday evening that police were not seeking a perpetrator.
The investigation continued on Friday evening with witness interviews, door-to-door inquiries in the neighbourhood, and examination of electronic evidence. Crime scene technicians worked at the scene throughout the afternoon and evening, and police erected a white tent in the cordoned-off street. A drone was sent up over the residential area shortly after 6pm.
"There is quite extensive crime scene technical work to be carried out at the scene," said Brudevoll.
Mayor: "Utterly tragic"
Kristiansund's mayor Kjell Neergaard commented on the incident and described it as a profound shock.
"You react with shock. It is a sad and brutal message to receive. My thoughts go first and foremost to the relatives, who received the terrible news earlier today. We are a small town where people know each other. I can barely find the words," said Neergaard.
The mayor stated that the municipality's crisis team has been activated and is available as long as necessary – for relatives, neighbours or others in need of help. Police have also appointed a dedicated contact person for those closest to the victims.
It was the newspaper Tidens Krav that first reported the police operation on Friday afternoon.
