A woman from Bangladesh and a man from Finland, both 33 years old, were arrested after the Norwegian armed forces reported unlawful drone flying at Kolsås camp in Bærum, police said according to aftenposten.no.
– The airspace above the camp is a restricted zone where all sensor activity is prohibited. We have seized the equipment, and the two are being reported, wrote operations leader Eirik Sannes in the police log.
The two were subsequently released after giving statements to police. Police do not wish to disclose what they stated.
When asked whether there is suspicion of espionage, Sannes replied:
– No, not based on findings so far. We are investigating the technical equipment that we have seized.
Police emphasise that drone pilots themselves are responsible for familiarising themselves with the rules and restrictions that apply to the airspace in which they operate.
Kolsås camp houses central units including Cyberforsvaret, Nasjonal sikkerhetsmyndighet (NSM), Forsvarsmateriell and Forsvarsbygg.
